Father’s Day is only a few short days away and time is running out to plan the best Father’s Day yet. Whether your dad is outdoorsy, artistic or sporty, the possibilities are endless near your Cobb County home! To help you out, we’ve narrowed down the list to some of our local favorites.
To start off the day, take Dad out to the Silver Comet Trail in Marietta. There, you can spend hours biking, jogging, rollerblading or playing in the park with him and the rest of your family. Throw a Frisbee along the 13 miles of abandoned railroad tracks and admire all of the gorgeous scenery. After you’ve hit the trails, take Dad to cool off at the Acworth Slide, the world’s largest inflatable water slide. Located at Dallas Landing Park at Acworth Beach, this 36-foot tall water slide can be seen from the other side of the lake and is the perfect way to rejuvenate after a long day in the heat.
After all this adventure, you are bound to have worked up an appetite. Take Dad out for a delicious meal at one of Cobb County’s hot spots. Head back over to Acworth and check out Henry’s Louisiana Grill for a down-home restaurant and bar with southern-inspired Cajun cuisine. Your dad will have a blast with Chef Henry and his New Orleans flair and his taste buds will geaux crazy (especially if he orders the Louisiana Ooh La La!). If Cajun is not Dad’s forte, head over to Capers for their Sunday Brunch Menu. Served from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., this menu features southern favorites like chicken and waffles and crab cakes over grits.
Sunday night, take Dad on over to one of Cobb’s exciting summer shows for a night of fun-filled entertainment. If he is into music, head out to the Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre to see The Rascals: Once Upon a Dream. Combining rock n’ roll with the theatrics of Broadway, this show is sure to get Dad groovin’. The show starts at 8 p.m., so get there early to get a good seat. If he is more into theatre, visit the Earl Smith Strand Theatre in Marietta for their production of “Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat.” Dad will be amazed as this well-known tale comes to life through an eclectic pop score, and as an extra bonus, it’s approved for all ages!
Father’s Day is about spending time with your dad and Cobb County has several opportunities to make it the perfect day. We hope everyone has a great day and Happy Father’s Day to all the dads out there.
