This weekend, two fun annual events will take place near homes in Kennesaw: The Great Locomotive Chase 5K Race and Taste of Kennesaw.
Runners-extraordinaire (and even those who simply like to stroll) are invited to take part in the Great Locomotive Chase 5k Race, which starts in front of Kennesaw First Baptist Church at 8 a.m. The race is in its 3rd year and features a flat and fast course through Swift Cantrell Park, finishing in historic downtown Kennesaw. There’s still time to register online. The race also features a 1 mile fun run and tot trot.
It’s lucky the 5k ends in downtown Kennesaw, so runners can enjoy plenty of post-race recovery at the city’s annual food festival. Taste of Kennesaw is a delight for area residents as well as those in neighboring cities. More than 40 restaurants will showcase an array of their scrumptious offerings. Samples will be sold from $1 to $4 and the event benefits several local charities.
