More spring showers are expected to move into the metro Atlanta area later this week, but that does not mean that you can’t have some fun indoors while the rain pours outdoors. At Traton Homes we sell beautiful Atlanta homes in some of the best locations, so we have compiled a list of family-friendly activities in Cobb, Cherokee and North Fulton counties that won’t leave you stuck at home or out in the rain.
Cobb County
While touring historic Marietta Square is always a fun sightseeing experience for children and adults alike, the rain can really put a damper on this typically outdoor activity. The Marietta Trolley Company offers visitors a fun way to experience the sights of Marietta in an enclosed, air-conditioned trolley that runs rain or shine. The tour highlights Marietta’s Downtown Square, the historic Kennesaw Mountain battlefield, several Antebellum homes of the area, as well as many of the more recently built but equally as impressive Cobb County homes. The tours run at 11:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. Thursday through Saturday, and at 1:00 p.m. and 2:30 p.m. on Sundays. Call 770-425-1006 for available upcoming tour times.
Cherokee County
For the history buffs out there, the Cherokee County History Museum and Visitors Center features several exhibits highlighting famous Cherokee County residents, both their life stories and contributions to the area. The museum, which is free to all visitors, is open weekly Wednesday through Friday from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and Saturdays from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
North Fulton County
For those of you in the Johns Creek area with a flair for the creative, the Johns Creek Arts Center offers art classes for both children and adults of all skill levels and interests. From painting and drawing to photography and jewelry-making, there’s a class to fit everyone. Classes are typically held in six to eight week sessions and prices vary from $125 to $250 per session. For more information, or to sign up for an upcoming class, visit http www.johnscreekarts.org.
While all of these activities will keep you dry during the spring showers, here’s hoping that May flowers are just around the corner.
