Easter is a little over a week away and children of Cobb County homes are getting their baskets ready to hunt down the perfect egg. While parents assist, cheer from the sidelines and help count at the end, each egg found is a new treasure in a child’s eyes. Some eggs shine with glitter, others feature treats on the inside. Either way, an Easter egg hunt is a great opportunity to watch children enjoy the search and spend time with family and friends.

In addition to hunts at home, school or church, Cobb County children have several community opportunities to hunt for Easter eggs this year. 2013 Easter egg hunts include:

• Acworth Easter Egg Hunt: The Acworth Easter Egg Hunt takes a unique spin on a classic tradition with the Easter Bunny skydiving into the Acworth Sports Complex on Friday, March 22, at 8:00 p.m. Sponsored by the City of Acworth Parks and Recreation Department and Freedom Church, children up through 5^th grade will have the opportunity to hunt 50,000 eggs filled with candy. The hunt will be divided into four age groups with a fifth hunt available for children with special needs. For more information on exact times, call 770-917-1234.
• Easter Egg Scramble at Laurel Park: The Marietta Parks, Recreation and Facilities Easter Egg Scramble will take place at Laurel Park on Friday, March 22, at 6:30 p.m. Following the hunt, the Easter Bunny will be available for photos. For more information, call 770-794-5601.
• Cobb’s 2013 Egg Hunt: Cobb County’s “Largest Egg Hunt” will take place on Saturday, March 23, at Jim Miller Park in Marietta. Cobb’s 2013 Egg Hunt is from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. with scheduled times for different age groups. Each age group hunt will feature a special prize egg. In addition to the hunts, attendees will enjoy art activities, live entertainment, inflatables and concessions. The Easter Bunny will be on hand and there will be contests, including the Mad Hatter Contest and Decorated Basket Contest.
• City of Kennesaw’s Easter Egg Scramble: The City of Kennesaw invites children to hippity hop on over to Adams Park for their annual Easter Egg Scramble. The scramble is open to children 12 and under and will begin at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 23. Additional kid-friendly activities will include crafts, face painting, inflatables and a visit from the Easter Bunny. For more information, call 770-422-9714.
• Northeast Cobb Community Egg Drop: This popular Northeast Cobb Community Egg Drop will be held on Saturday, March 30 from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. on the field at Sprayberry High School. Thousands of eggs will be located on the field, as well as thousands more dropped from a helicopter. Additionally, children will enjoy inflatables, food, vendors, music, face painting and a visit from the Easter Bunny.
