Marietta is a fun place to live anytime of the year, but in the spring and summer there is so much to do! When the kids start screaming “I’m bored,” it is time to get out of the house and explore. Some of our favorites activities in the area include:
Marietta Square Market – Recently opened, this food hall of 17 restaurants and food stalls has already become a hometown favorite and a destination for those visiting. Located near the historic downtown Marietta Square, the market includes lots of great places to eat:
- Bread + Butter Bakery
- BullGogi
- Cousin’s Maine Lobster
- Crème de la Crepe
- D’Cuban Cafe
- Forno Vero Pizza
- Four Fat Cows Creamery
- Grand Champion BBQ
- Just Loaf’n Cajun Cafe
- Lucky’s Burger & Brew
- Meat in the Middle
- Momosan Ramen
- Pita Mediterranean
- Shai Karr Eatery Thai Street Food
- Street Taco
- Tandoori Square
- Tiny Bubbles Tea Bar
Marietta Square – A destination for food and fun in Marietta, the Marietta Square is the location for the Marietta Square Farmers Market, Taste of Marietta, May-retta Daze Arts & Crafts Festival, the Brown Bag Concert Series, the Gone With the Wind Museum and more. The Marietta Welcome Center on Depot Street helps to familiarize newcomers with all of the city’s attractions. Popular local eateries include WR Social House, Shillings on the Square, Taqueria Tsunami and Two Birds Taphouse.
When it is time to cool off, Six Flags White Water is located on Cobb Parkway in Marietta. This massive waterpark is open weekends in May starting May 11, and then daily after Memorial Day weekend. Popular rides include the Wahoo Racer, a six-lane water slide where racers compete head first to see who can reach the bottom first.
Sope Creek is a stream located in Marietta. It is a tributary of the Chattahoochee River and the Sope Creek Trail runs along beside it. Hikers, dog walkers or mountain bikers can take this three-mile long trail to the ruins of a stacked-stone paper mill and then make a big loop to include a visit to a pond in the Chattahoochee River Park in Atlanta.
