With the weekend fast approaching, if you don’t have Labor Day plans then check out some of these exciting events near your metro Atlanta homes. During this time of year, Atlanta is always buzzing with massive events such as the AdvoCare 500 and Dragon*Con.
In the Georgia Dome college football fans can cheer to their hearts content at one of the two season kickoffs. Starting off the weekend, Tennessee plays against NC State on Friday, August 31. Then fans return to the dome on Saturday, Sept. 1 to watch old rivalries ignite in the Auburn versus Clemson game.
If you are in Atlanta but football is not quite your speed, cruise down to Atlanta Motor Speedway and check out their annual Labor Day NASCAR Night Race Weekend. The speedway welcomes weekend campers every year for Labor Day for a ton of grandstand fun. The highlight of the weekend occurs when the AdvoCare 500 race take place on Sunday, Sept. 2 at 7:30 p.m.
Not a sports fan, but still looking for something interesting happening near your Atlanta home? Come see some spectacular costumes at Dragon*Con, the largest multi-media and pop culture convention in the south. Bring the kids on Saturday, Sept. 1 at 10 a.m. for their annual parade down Peachtree Street. Can you count the number of storm troopers? Then walk around the convention’s main hotels for a chance to meet celebrities, authors, cosplayers and others that make being a geek very chic.
